Detroit Public Schools
In November 2015, I organized a donation event for One World Play Project and Detroit Public Schools (our giving partner). One World Play Project donated over 320 soccer balls to Detroit Public Schools. Local news media, school district heads, and Chevrolet executives (official sponsor) were there to support.
The one-day event ran November 2, 2015 at Bunche Preparatory Academy (Detroit, MI).
Key Responsibilities
Wow! I organized this event in less than 2 weeks.
Executive management: travel alongside founder Tim Jahnigen, organizing his schedule, including executive meetings and interviews onsite.
Logistics: manage donation shipment (all those soccer balls) and distribution (what schools would be getting them).
Media relations: reach out, secure and schedule media interviews and attendance at the event (press, television).
News coverage: collect all coverage of event, including: photography, video, television segments, and written articles.
Organize remotely: I did all the planning from Berkeley, CA. The event was hosted and executed in Detroit, MI.
Post-mortem: report event metrics and key learnings for business executives, partners and stakeholders.
Press release: I wrote this press release.
